As a Scientist (Dairy), China you are part of our APAC Application & Technical Services Team and will play a key role in providing technical support to our customers in Asia Pacific with a key focus on Dairy.

The key purpose of the role is to partner with sales to accelerate the business growth of Tate & Lyle Asia Pacific in the dairy category.

About You

We’re looking to recruit a Technical Service Specialist (Dairy) in China, reporting to the Senior Technical Services Manager, Dairy based in Shanghai

This is a varied role for a person who enjoys challenges and works as a business partner with the sales and marketing team in the following:-

• Build a robust pipeline of sales opportunities in the dairy Food Service channel across all product platforms including Texturant, H&W, High-intensity sweeteners and Stabilizer.

• Supporting the dairy team in sweetener profile improvement and solution development.

• Coordinating know-how sharing with the rest of the APAC dairy team.

The expectation is that the individual is an accomplished dairy technical person with a strong capability to create or develop added value based on customers’ pain. Solid understanding of ingredients, and processing in ice-cream, dessert or yoghurt, milk drinks. . A strong grasp of English is important given the level of interaction expected with the regional/global ATS team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Planning:

• Execute plans created for customers under the guidance of the Manager.

• Create action plans for lab trials, and project follow-up. Ensure that plans are executed and organize monthly reviews with commercial teams.

Customer Management:

• Identify customers’ requirements together with the commercial team and differentiate them based on business potential. Partner with Account Managers (across APAC) to develop customer plans and managed both internal and external expectations.

Innovation:

• Create or develop added value solutions from a technical perspective based on the understanding of market trends. Collaborate with dairy category leaders and sales team to explore business opportunities.

• Collaborate with the category marketing team to create innovative concepts.

Project management:

• Able to set up a clear project objective under the supervision of the category leader. Propose, create action plans and ensure it will be completed on time.

• Participate in regional or global dairy ATS knowledge-sharing session.

Environment Heath & Safety (EHS) Supporting:

• You must have a safety mindset and work with various stakeholders to assist the company in achieving EHS Excellence.

Location

This role is assigned to our China office located in Shanghai, Xuhui District

What You’ll have

• Degree or Masters’ Degree in Food Science / Engineering or equivalent

• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in dairy application especially in Ice-Cream application

• Must have hands-on experience in dairy prototyping and conducting pilot trials.

• In-depth knowledge/technical skills in specific dairy applications.

• Candidate with ice cream experience is a big plus.

• Experience in modified food starch or hydrocolloid application is a big plus

• Excellent presentation skills

• Strong communication skills in both English & Mandarin
